Generic Subdomain Setup Tutorial

If you have a site connected with mydomain.com, you can also link mysubdomain.mydomain.com with your other sites -- some common use cases are about.mydomain.com, event.mydomain.com, city.mydomain.com, newproduct.mydomain.com, and jobs.mydomain.com.

Connecting your subdomain takes about 5 minutes. Check out the steps below to get started:

This feature is only available for Limited and Pro users. This is free/included if you already own a domain  -- you won't need to pay your domain registrar any additional fees. If you'd like us to connect your domain for you, send us the info here!

If you bought your domain from these registrars, see our tutorials here:

  1. Inside the Strikingly editor, go to Settings -> Domains and enter the desired subdomain in the "Custom Domain/Subdomain" field.

  2. Login to your domain registrar and edit your domain host records (or "zone records").If you bought your domain from us, check out this tutorial.

  3. You need to add one CNAME record from your desired subdomain to dns.strikingly.com.

  4. That's it! It's just like linking the "www" part for your domain, but without the domain forwarding!

It may take a few hours for these settings to propagate fully. Soon, your subdomain will point to your Strikingly site.

If your subdomain has been connected successfully, you'll see the "Domain is Live!" note in Settings>Domains>Custom Domain/Subdomain.

If your site doesn't go up after a few hours, contact support@strikingly.com or chat with us and include a screenshot of your subdomain settings so we can help!
