Reposition images or what is shown in thumbnails

Allow the user to shift the photos up/down/left/right. Many images are cropped automatically, or only display to some extent. This includes: -- backgrounds images (want face or text to show) -- gallery images (these are auto cropped) -- team members (these are auto cropped, sometimes in a circle)

    Hello!  We've released Image Refocus. You can now Set a focal point for gallery thumbnails and background images. No more cropped faces and awkward thumbnails!

    Hello, I am new to Strikingly and while much of your interface is intuitive, I am having a hard time accepting the only photo positioning options you have are center, tile, and stretch. It's a toss-up between SquareSpace and Strikingly, and while I absolutely love your vertical scroll, let's face it. 1992's Windows 3.1 had tile, center and stretch. PLEASE tell me I'm missing something crucial, or that something is in the works. I want to want your site for photography, but this is a significant constraint. I know your staff posted a note saying you're reviewing it, so please continue doing so. Thanks for the chance to send a message.

    Yes it would be great to view the shown thumbnails at 100% or at least be able to move them around. Coroflot.com has a feature like this

    I would like to be able to choose an alignment for pictures that I upload. Weather they should be aligned top, buttom, vertically centered or left, right or horizontally centered on my section.

    The responsiveness on the mobile looks great except for slider images on the phone views. The images are still too large and do not size down enough for the entire original image to be viewable on the phone. Instead it cuts out the middle section.

    Simple consistency would be a starting point. If I upload as series of exact same-size images, with the 'content' in the exact middle of every image, some thumbnails centre the image and some don't. It seems to be a random left, right or centre for each thumbnail. Can anyone explain why this might be?

    For background photos it would be a good idea to mark out where the focal point is with a template tool, so that views on tablets and mobiles show the right bit. For instance, on my current background, the centre of interest is towards the left.

    This is frustrating. My photography usually doesn't feature faces and I want to feature a specific part of the image in the thumbnail but I can't. I would not consider this idea "completed" since we still can't have control over what is shown in the thumbnail.

    Me too! I'd like to have a "featured clients" section, where users can click on a company logo and be taken not to a larger version of the logo but to an image of the work I did for them and a description. I'd also like to be able to have thumbnails be a cropped section of what users see when they click to get the full image.

    I am on the pro plan. The orientation sections just allows me to mirror or rotate the picture. As soon as I save them, the are strictly on the left side of the window.

    Absolutely agree, as we can't have another kind of irregular thumbnails or collage of images in the galleries, we need at least to customize what is shown in the squared thumbnails, to show the most compelling part and invite people to click on them. I see this characteristic as a vital option really!

    Why can't we reposition how a thumbnail looks in a gallery section? It looks unprofessional to have image content randomly off centered.  I notice the way thumbnails display is sometimes aligned left or aligned right.  I get complaints from other clients who I have set up sites on Strikingly, also.

    And blog thumbnails come in blurry!  Why is THAT? It looks awful! I upload a good res. blog header image that is 1792px wide, it should not be blurry in a thumbnail.

    This thread is now two years old and image control is still very much lacking. Since I am new at website building and am otherwise pretty happy with Strikingly, I am tolerating the limitations. However, image control is essential to me in the long run, so I won't be sticking around if this isn't upgraded. Indeed, even Facebook gives more control over profile and cover photos!
